Dosimetry The practical way to quantified the ionizing energy absorbed by the products treated by BENEBION´s process, called “absorbed dose”, is using physical or chemical devices called dosimeters.
These devices display the radiation absorption that can be quantified by a quick and simple way trough a known response to the amount of energy absorbed during the process. Dosimeters are cheap and can be stored a long time, conserving the absorbed dose information.
BENEBION will use alanine pellets dosimeters, that will be placed on the products before being exposed to the treatment chamber and will be retired after treatment to determine the absorbed dose that the products have received.
These dosimeters can be used to determine absorbed doses from 10 Gy to 50 kGy, a spectrometer of electron paramagnetic resonance will be used to measure the absorbed dose and will keep the information by a long lapse in electronic form.
